I believe students should learn to love music before they learn to fear mistakes. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can explore, play, and grow with confidence. I use structured practice and purposeful activities while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable — not simply drilling notes and exercises. Beyond learning the right notes, I want each student to leave lessons with greater confidence, curiosity, creativity, and a lasting love and appreciation for music.

ABOUT
Ms. Yu
Ge Yu is an experienced music educator, professional soprano, and dedicated mentor with more than 20 years of international performance experience and 12 years of university-level teaching. As a soprano, she has performed extensively across the United Kingdom, Europe, and China, including roles such as Mimì in Puccini's "La Bohème," Eurydice in Offenbach's "Orpheus in the Underworld," Norina in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale," and leading roles in musical theatre.
Ms. Yu has presented numerous concerts and recitals of opera arias and art songs, with a repertoire spanning Italian, French, German, English, Spanish, and Chinese art songs. She brings her deep experience in classical vocal performance, musical interpretation, language diction, and stage presentation into every lesson.
Believing that every student learns differently, Ms. Yu uses an individualized, encouraging approach adapted to each student's age, goals, musical interests, and learning style. For beginning piano students, she focuses on solid fundamentals — music reading, rhythm, technique, and musical expression — while keeping lessons engaging. She especially enjoys helping students discover their own musical voice and confidence, whether they are just beginning, preparing for a performance, or simply playing for the joy of it.
