ABOUT

MRS. LINDA

Linda Chávez is a Mexican-American pianist from South Texas. A Magna Cum Laude graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Music Education with emphasis in piano from the University of Texas at Brownsville ('14) and her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts ('16), where she was awarded the Longy Conservatory Dean Scholarship, received two teaching assistantships, served as President of the Longy Student Association, and was a finalist in the Longy Honors Competition.

Her path of continuous learning has included the Campamento de Piano en Palmares in Costa Rica, the Schlern International Music Festival in Italy, the Nuevo Mundo Festival and Academy in Aruba, and the Teaching Artist Program at Lincoln Center in New York City. With her piano duo Table for Two, alongside pianist Ilana Cady, she opened the Styriarte Music Festival in Graz, Austria by winning its prestigious competition with an all-women-composer program, and has since toured throughout the United States.

Currently, Miss Linda is the pianist for the Valley Symphony Orchestra and a sought-after accompanist and adjudicator, most recently judging Music Teachers National Association Region 2 participants. She serves as President of the National Federation of Music Clubs chapter in Brownsville and has presented to teachers and students nationally and internationally, from Florida and Ohio to Costa Rica.

Miss Linda is proud to have founded the first music school in the region specialized in piano — the Brownsville Piano Studio, where her team teaches over 330 students — and is humbled to work alongside such talented colleagues. She strives to bring artistry and ingenuity to every lesson, and hopes to continue making a difference with her music and her passion for positive change.
