TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I want every student to leave their lesson feeling capable, not just of playing today's piece, but of solving tomorrow's challenges on their own. That's why I teach around the idea of 'learning how to learn': I adapt each lesson to the way that individual person thinks and processes music. Once a student understands the why behind the technique, the music stops being an obstacle and becomes a language of their own.

ABOUT

MR. VICTOR

Victor is a Mexican pianist and music educator based in the Matamoros–Brownsville border region. He began his musical training in Xalapa, Veracruz, under Maestro Luis Enrique León España, and later earned his degree from the Instituto Superior de Música del Estado de Veracruz under Maestro Leonardo Del Castillo Madrid, developing within a European-rooted pianistic tradition. In 2026, he completed his Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley under Dr. Juan Pablo Andrade.

With nearly 30 years of experience at the piano, Victor is an active performer on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border. He has appeared as a concert performer and masterclass clinician at international festivals, including the PianUp International Piano Festival in Morelia and the Papantla International Piano Festival, and performs regularly with a candlelight concert ensemble that tours cities across Mexico.

As a teacher, Victor instructs piano, keyboard harmony, harmony and analysis, chamber music, and piano ensembles at Colegio de San Juan Siglo XXI in Matamoros. His teaching centers on helping every student "learn how to learn," building an individualized curriculum that meets each person where they are. He is especially passionate about making music education more inclusive, with a particular interest in students with learning differences.
