ABOUT
DR. ZHANG
Dr. Zhen Zhang is a pianist, educator, and incoming Director of Piano Studies and Advanced Pedagogy at Brownsville Piano Studio. He currently serves as a Piano Instructor, teaching more than 65 private piano students while leading 4 group piano classes. Through his work with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, he has built one of the largest private piano teaching studios in South Texas and established a reputation for excellence in piano education.
Dr. Zhang holds a Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Mannes School of Music in New York City, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Tennessee, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. During his doctoral studies, he served as a Graduate Assistant, gaining extensive experience in music instruction, student mentorship, and educational leadership.
In addition to his teaching accomplishments, Dr. Zhang has received recognition for both his performance and academic achievements. He was awarded Second Prize in the Rockwood Piano Competition and Third Prize in the University of Tennessee Celebration of Excellence Competition. He has served as an adjudicator for international piano competitions and has been invited to present on topics related to piano performance and pedagogy.
