ABOUT
MRS. SUÁREZ
Anahil Suárez is an accomplished violinist with extensive experience in orchestra, chamber music, mariachi, and orchestral conducting, and has performed across the United States, Mexico, and Russia. She began her formal music education at the Colegio de San Juan Siglo XXI in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, studying under violinist Joaquín Ruiz, and joined the Chamber Orchestra of the International Opera Company of Tampico in 2007. She continued her studies on music department scholarships at the University of Texas at Brownsville under distinguished conductor and violinist Dr. Martha Placeres, studied abroad in Vienna, and in 2013 traveled to Saint Petersburg, Russia with the UTB Mariachi Ocelotitlán for a series of mariachi concerts. In 2015, she won the UTB Concerto/Aria competition in orchestral conducting, leading Wagner's "Die Meistersinger" with the UTB Symphony Orchestra, and completed her Bachelor's in Music Education at UTRGV under Puerto Rican violist Dr. Joel Pagán.
A proud member of Mariachi Margaritas, Brownsville's all-female mariachi, Mrs. Suárez has performed alongside Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, and Mariachi Los Camperos, and has accompanied celebrated artists including Pablo Montero, Ana Bárbara, and Lupita Infante. Since 2019, she has toured with Ángela Aguilar across the United States — including the famous ring walk performance with Pepe, Ángela, and Leonardo Aguilar at the Canelo vs. Saunders fight at AT&T Stadium, before an audience of over 73,000. In 2021, the City of Los Angeles recognized her with a certificate of commendation for enhancing the culture of mariachi among women.
Mrs. Suárez currently serves as Head Mariachi Director at Rivera Early College High School, where she continues to inspire the next generation of musicians.
